A spot in Texas Monthly‘s Top 50 brings high expectations, so my mouth was watering after the disappointment at Texas Rib Kings down the street. Tuesday-Friday 11-3 were the temporary hours posted at the door, but there was no indication of the timeline for these hours. Upon ordering I was pleased that the pit boss quickly asked if I wanted lean brisket or “some with a little more flavor.” I opted for the fatty brisket…

Fair. Chewy brisket. No smoke.

Decided to "Mann Up" today...guess I'll be skipping supper tonight! What a meal! Great sandwich but the star, as always, was that yummy pork rib. Can't get enough of those!!

Interesting little place. Super friendly staff, clean tables and plenty of tea. Doesn't look much like a BBQ joint but that doesn't matter, I came for the meat! Super disappointed in the brisket. Moist cuts covered in thick, unrendered fat with almost zero bark and no discernible smoke ring. Meat itself was just blah. The ribs, on the other hand, were amazing! Three bone special with two sides was only $9.99 and I was in hog heaven. Loin back ribs were a real surprise and that extra little chunk of meat on each bone really made this a great deal. Smoke ring was pronounced and tasty. Great meaty flavor with a good tug and just a slightly sweet finish. Hope these ribs weren't a one-off as I'm coming back again soon!

Not a lot of smoke flavor. Not all thefts had rendered in their fatty brisket. Good ring but not bark

Finally made to to mann's and I wot be going back. Staff was very nice but the best think on my plate was the sides. The brisket and ribs were both bland. Not enough rub or smoke.

Excellent chopped sandwich. Potato salad was solid. Slaw not my favorite. Great BBQ joint overall.

Visited yesterday, brisket was good would have preferred a bit more spice. The sausage was outstanding, juicy, great flavor, and good snap

Owner Jim Mann and his jovial staff served us fatty brisket, pork ribs, and pulled pork that offered a surplus of smokiness and juice. (The salty sauce worked well with the loin.) Jim’s wife, Sallie, makes sides from Southern family recipes. Her black-eyed peas, lima beans, and cornbread perfectly accompanied the meat. Come on Fridays for free homemade ice cream (especially during peach season).
