BBQ is okay. Best fried rolls ever

Great ribs! The chipped beef sandwich was not good- basically a sloppy joe... Service was wonderful! I recommend getting a rack of ribs. The rolls were great as well.

The fried roll is the best part. A very cool building and Lufkin institution.

Try the fried rolls!! That's about it from this Lufkin classic!

Biscuits with honey.

Decent sliced brisket sandwich. Cole slaw was good with the potato salad being more like mashed potatoes then potato salad. Rolls were great.

I really enjoyed the rib and sliced beef combo plate. The ribs are very tender and have a spicy hot rub that'll sneak up on you. The beef was pretty average. The fried rolls are to due for, however. They are worth a stop just by themselves, especially if you save one for dessert, drizzled with the complementary honey. Great service and quirky ambience add to the experience. Will gladly stop again!

Fried rolls are great - everything else is average.

A couple of years back I compiled a list of Texas barbecue treasures, or joints that had been open for at least fifty years. But it wasn’t until recently that I noticed that Stringer’s Lufkin Bar-B-Que was the oldest on the list without a mention on TMBBQ. They celebrated 65 years in deep East Texas just last year, and there’s more to the place than the fried rolls they’re so famous for. Lufkin Bar-B-Que was a shack when it…
