Cool little place, quintessential small town joint. Ribs - tremendous flavor of smoke with a touch of sweetness. Terrifically done as they were tender but clung nicely to the bone. Brisket - outstanding. Great smoke with just enough salt for flavor. Nothing overpowering, just tender, smokey goodness throughout. I now see why this gets dubbed best in easy Texas. Nothing keeping it from being an A in my book!

The brisket was good as was the sauce, the sausage was not my favorite. Will eat there again.

Loved the German potatoes and the brisket was flavorful but to much sauce.

The former McBee’s in Hondo has gotten a new lease on life. Heavy purchased the joint after moving back home from Austin where he had worked at Bert’s BBQ. He’s using the same methods of indirectly smoking with mesquite in the same brick pit used by McBee’s but the results are incredible. I was worried when we stopped in at eleven-thirty to find only two other customers, but once we left an hour later, the…
