Second trip here and boy was it work it. Brisket had a great bark and very moist. Chicken was juicy and seasoned just right!

Turkey and Pork Chop were great. Enjoyed live music while we ate. Next time around will try the ribs and brisket. Both look really good.

Excellent meat! Brisket has a great bark and smoke ring, and an even better taste! Turkey and sides are great as well! Brisket in the beans!!

The lean was a little moist, but INCREDIBLE flavor! Ranks up there with Pecan Lodge and Franklins in my book. Some of the best sauce I've had in a looooooonnnnng time.

I got half a pound of moist brisket. Try gave me burnt ends at no charge. Delicious as always. I'm. Considering putting the paper wrapping under the drivers seat in my car to use as car freshener.

Longtime San Marcosans may recall this place as the former home of Woody’s, a barbecue joint that opened in 1984. It was taken over in 2007 by the Hernandez family, and in 2011 they changed the name to Hays Co. Bar-B-Que and Catering. You won’t find it if you’re not looking for it. Hidden at a blind curve a good ways outside of town, and definitely not in view of the Interstate, Hays Co. Bar-B-Que has been flying under the radar. It didn’t help that they’ve already changed names since opening after receiving the dreaded cease and desist for their previous moniker.
