Brisket was pretty bad. Weird flavor and was dry. Poorly cut also. Ribs were ok. Plain with a slight smoke. Sausage was good.

Some pretty good sausage, ribs and brisket. Cool pit room.

Brisket was dry and tasteless. Sausage was fantastic. Interesting BBQ sauce made with ketchup and sweet pickle juice.

Excellent sausage. Brisket was a little dry and could have used more smoke. Ribs were a complete let down. Almost lacking any rub at all. Sides were borderline in edible. Happy to finally visit but overall underwhelmed.

It's alright. Visit it so you can say you hit the last place on the Texas BBQ Trail.

I was in Gonzalez for the "Come and Take It" festival. It was across the street...I figured with all the good places around it should be good. It wasn't too bad. The reason I don't rate it higher is because I got there 30 minutes before closing. The sides looked pathetic. The employees were more concerned with closing than getting my order. Maybe they wanted to go the festival. The brisket had a great taste to it and the sauce was interesting it kinda a sweet cherry taste it. There are other places around that better. One of the locals even told me of another place down the road in Gonzales that is better...

Great BBQ! Brisket was super moist and the ribs were excellent as well. What a great find.

The Food Market on the historic square of Gonzales is part BBQ joint and part convenience store. Pass through the glass door and you’ll hear a hum of activity as you walk toward the large glass-faced cases that display the plethora of smoked meats available. Behind the counter to take your order will most likely be Richard Lopez, the third-generation owner. (A great oral history of the joint from Mr. Lopez himself can be found…
