I know these guys catch a lot of flack for "institutional" BBQ, but I always find their moist brisket consistently yummy and really like their spicy sausage. Good prices and always friendly employees, too!

Chopped beef sandwich was below par and pork ribs were a 6.5 out of ten. Not sure how this one made the list

Asked for fatty brisket and found a few decent, moist pieces with good flavor, nice smoke ring and a well flavored bark. Most of it was just dry, though. Ribs were really dry and lacked any kind of flavor. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day...

You may have been familiar with the Baker’s Ribs location in Deep Ellum. It stood for decades in a brick building on Commerce Street with a large pig painted on the side. They leased that building but were looking for a permanent home, so they bought a building just a few blocks away in the same Deep Ellum neighborhood. I made a couple of stops to see just how well they’ve dealt with the transition….
