You Eat, We’ll Drive

Climb on board and join us for a day-long pilgrimage to three of the best barbecue joints in the Hill Country area. On the TMBBQ Road Trip all you have to do is sit back, enjoy the scenery, and get ready to eat. We’ll take care of everything else.

The day begins with an early-morning drive from Austin to Spicewood, where we’ll enjoy a breakfast of champions at Opie’s Barbecue; after that, we’ll stop for a mid day repast at Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que, in Llano; and finally, we’ll finish up back in Austin with a feast at La Barbecue.

In between, listen as barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn explains how the Texas Monthly team selects our top fifty joints, what he looks for in a slice of brisket, and other secrets of the trade. As the country’s only full-time barbecue editor, Vaughn has more than a few stories to tell. Ticket price includes beverages on the bus and one meal and beverage at each stop.
